Third Party Fundraising Guidelines and Application
Introduction
Thank you for considering a fundraising event/activity in support of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. The Friends of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights ("FCMHR") relies on the willingness of many individuals and organizations that generously initiate fundraising events and activities to raise money in support of the Museum. Please review the following Guidelines and then complete the Third Party Application.
Guidelines
- An Application must be completed and submitted to the FCMHR no less than four weeks prior to the proposed fundraising activity. Approval will be granted on a per event/promotion basis. Applicants must reapply annually for approval.
- If your application is approved, we will provide you with a Letter of Agreement.
- We reserve the right to deny any application for a fundraising activity that does not complement the mission of, or project a positive image of the FCMHR.
- Permission must be given by the FCMHR to use our name/logo in conjunction with your event or promotion. All promotional materials must be approved by the FCMHR prior to distribution. We can provide a copy of our logo via email or on disk.
- Publicity may not imply that the event is sponsored or co-sponsored by the FCMHR, or that the FCMHR is involved as anything but a beneficiary. List the event name followed by "In support of", or "Proceeds to" followed by the FCMHR logo.
- If you are facilitating a raffle, tag day, or other activity that involves selling to the general public, you may need to obtain the appropriate license (i.e. raffles, liquor permits etc.).
- The FCMHR and all related entities are not liable for any injuries sustained by event volunteers or participants related to an event benefiting the Museum, and cannot assume any type of liability for your event.
- The applicant will be responsible for all costs related to the event/activity and will handle all monetary transactions.
- The FCMHR will not provide individual tax receipts for event-based fundraisers (i.e. dinners, golf tournaments etc.).
- The proceeds will be forwarded to the FCMHR within 30 days of the completion of the event. For ongoing fundraising activities, proceeds will be forwarded to the FCMHR at regular intervals (i.e. every six months). The preferred method of payment is a cheque or money order from the applicant payable to: The Friends of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.
- Due to limited resources, the FCMHR cannot normally provide volunteers to support a special event. However, we do have expertise in various areas where we may be able to assist. For further information, please contact the FCMHR Development Officer directly at (204) 925-5953 or by email at: info@friendsofcmhr.com
