Our Management Team

Gail Asper, O.C., O.M., LL.D., National Campaign Chair

Gail Asper graduated with a B.A. and LL.B. from the University of Manitoba in 1981 and 1984, respectively.  After receiving her call to the Bar of Nova Scotia in 1985, Ms. Asper practiced corporate and commercial law with Goldberg and Thompson.  In 1989, she joined CanWest Global Communications Corporation as corporate secretary and legal counsel. She served on the Board of Directors from 1992 to 2010.

Ms. Asper is President of The Asper Foundation, a private charitable foundation and is a Director on the Board of Friends of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights and the Board of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.   She has served on the boards of numerous not-for-profit groups, including acting as Co-Chair of the Manitoba Theatre Centre Capital and Endowment Campaigns, Vice-Chair of the Council for Business and the Arts and Chair of the United Way campaign and Board of Trustees.  In 2007, Ms. Asper was awarded the Order of Manitoba and was recently made an Officer of the Order of Canada, in recognition of her work as an arts advocate, fundraiser, and business and community leader.

Dav Cvitkovic, Chief Executive Officer

Dav Cvitkovic graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and with a Masters in Business Administration in Marketing from Simon Fraser University.  Ms. Cvitkovic has designed and executed successful multimillion dollar campaigns provincially (B.C.) nationally and internationally.  She is also a past recipient of the Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education- Rising Star Award.

Her business acumen and marketing background has served her well in positions that commanded strong strategic fundraising, communications and fiscal management. From 2006-2011, Ms. Cvitkovic has held key leadership positions at Simon Fraser University (Vancouver), Royal Roads University (Victoria) and at Holy Names University in Oakland, California – which was founded by Canadians.

As Chair of the Canadian Arthritis Society’s national revenue development team, Ms. Cvitkovic was the imagination and vision behind one of Canada’s most successful fundraising campaigns “Joints in Motion”.

In addition, she has worked in international banking at the prestigious Barclays Financial Services in the United Kingdom and LLoyds Bank of Canada in Vancouver, B.C. and Toronto, ON.

Douglas Prophet, C.A., Chief Financial Officer

Doug Prophet received his Bachelor of Commerce from Concordia University. He obtained his Chartered Accountant designation through the Ordre des comptables agrees du Quebec and is currently a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Manitoba. Mr. Prophet is a dynamic results oriented financial executive with experience in both the private and public sectors. He began his career in commercial banking with the Mercantile Bank of Canada and gained experience with Ernst and Young in their bankruptcy practice. Mr. Prophet has served in the role of Chief Financial Officer in the heavy equipment, trucking and medical device industries. Prior to joining the Friends, he served as Associate Vice-President Finance with the University of Winnipeg.

Mr. Prophet is a past President of the Winnipeg Chapter of the Financial Executives Institute. He is a member of Rotary International and is a past President of the Winnipeg Assiniboine Rotary Club and has served as Treasurer and Director of Rotary International District 5550 Inc. He has also served in the capacity of Director at the Rotary Club level. Mr. Prophet is a member of the Rotary District 5550 Inc World Peace Partners Committee which, through a partnership with the University of Winnipeg and the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, has an objective of providing an educational experience for youth in human rights.

Susan Graham, Director of Development

Susan Graham received her honours degree, Bachelor of Recreation Studies, from the University of Manitoba in 1989. Ms Graham is a dynamic, results-oriented individual with over 15 years of professional fundraising experience, beginning with events and recently with major gifts, capital campaigns and planned giving. Susan has developed and implemented both short and long-term fundraising strategies for YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg, the Riverview Health Centre Foundation (RHCF) and the Lake of the Woods Community Foundation. Sue has been involved in the development and implementation of customer service training for YMCA Canada. 

Ms Graham has successfully completed 4 capital campaigns. A natural leader, Susan has developed training plans and been involved in the implementation of them for staff at all levels. Working in the charitable, not-for-profit sector, she believes in supporting and growing the community she lives and works in.

Moe Levy, Special Advisor

Moe Levy received his Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) and Masters  in Business Administration in Finance from the University of Manitoba.  He began his career in government and achieved the position of Managing Partner within the Manitoba Department of Industry, Trade and Tourism.  He continues to lecture at the Asper School of Business and was also instrumental in creating the Asper Centre for Entrepreneurship at the Faculty of Management, University of Manitoba.  He was made a Fellow of the Asper Centre in 2003.

Between 1993 and 1999, Mr. Levy was the CEO and president of The Canadian Heritage Co., one of Canada’s largest retail catalogue companies.  In 1999, he was appointed the Executive Director of The Asper Foundation and reported to the late Dr. Israel Asper, and continues to hold this position.   He was also the Executive Director of the Friends of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights from its inception until June 30, 2011, which was registered in 2002 as a Canadian charity to promote the establishment of, and act as the fundraising organization for the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.  This major project was spearheaded by The Asper Foundation. Mr. Levy currently serves as a Special Advisor to Friends of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights and in July 2011, he was appointed to the board as Director of the Friends of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.

He sits on various boards including the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, the Associates and the Asper Centre for Entrepreneurship, among others and devotes his time to various charitable causes.
